No great surprise there, right? ;) When not wallowing in H50 fandom, I'm wallowing with equal abandon in Merlin, and to make matters worse -- I have fallen down the Tumblr rabbit hole. (I now have umpteen seasons of SPN, the complete Starsky & Hutch, Sherlock, and Teen Wolf to watch at some point, in addition to rewatching Merlin (and getting my youngest niece hooked on both Merlin and Who, flavors Nine, Ten and Eleven)).
Ahhh, Merlin... can't believe how fast I got sucked into Merthur, but it's pretty much irresistible. I thought McDanno cornered the market on fond looks and goofiness and incandescent chemistry, but boy -- little did I know!
Still get teary-eyed and choked up over the end of Merlin, too, and let's not even mention some of the tracks on the soundtracks. (Well, okay, *let's*...) ;)
I've always been a sucker for a good soundtrack, and given that TPTB tended to recycle certain musical themes and pieces for especially emotional scenes, Merln's soundtrack can be especially evocative.
Remember the end of 2.13, when Merlin and Arthur are walking back into the citadel after Kilgharrah's flapped away, side by side, in sync (as they so often are)? Track 18 of the S3 CD, "Finale - The Sword in the Stone," features the swelling, triumphant passage that's playing throughout that scene, and as you listen, you can just *see* Merlin and Arthur, shoulder to shoulder, walking back into the courtyard, with Uther looking down from his window and Gaius and Gwen coming out to meet them. Chokes me up every time.
Heh. Okay, yes, I can (and will) waffle on down one meandering path after another, so I'm stoppin' while the stoppin's good. ;)
Oh, fair warning -- there's a post-5.13 story idea plaguing me that will, at some point, make it out into the light of day, so try not to be too horrified / mortified when it does. ;)
